Pattern Recognition, Indexing and Social Media Analysis

ABOUT

The PRISMA research group is located within the Department of Computer Science (DCC) at the University of Chile. It focuses on the research areas of data mining, social media and Web analysis, multimedia databases, pattern recognition, and similarity search. Our primary objectives are: 1) to develop effective and efficient methods for Multimedia Information Retrieval; and 2) to extract valuable knowledge from social and multimodal data.

In particular, we are interested in the areas of:

  • Similarity search in multimedia data.
  • Social media analysis
  • Unsupervised multimedia mining.
  • 3D object retrieval.

Regular courses that we teach at DCC are:

  • Data Mining.
  • Content-Based Image and Video Retrieval.
  • Information Visualization.
